Executive Summary

Covid-19 has caught all countries and organizations by surprise, resulting in a worldwide pandemic crisis, creating disruptions across economies and societies. Despite the unique and unexpected aspect of Covid-19, crises are something organizations face throughout their lifetime, and can have varying degrees of impact, sometimes even having a devastating effect. Organizations that are prepared for these types of risks have better chances of surviving and emerging stronger.
This paper aims to provide insights and guidelines on how to manage risks and crises by introducing a capability development model and practical response steps for the short and long terms. These concepts can be adopted by different types of organizations, large and small, in both private and public sectors. However, their application to an entity should be tailored to its specific context.
